About me…

Hi there! Thank you for visiting my website. Please allow me to introduce myself:

In 2018, I defended my PhD dissertation at the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. I currently work as a research associate at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, in Italy. I am a member of the editorial review boards of Family Business Review, Journal of Family Business Strategy, and Entrepreneurship Research Journal, and a co-founder of the European Family Business Center (EuFBC) research network.

My research interests center on innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability issues in the context of family businesses and otherwise privately-held SMEs, and arose from a general interest in how established firms in more traditional industries can remain competitive through cycles of technological and societal change.

Aside from my topical interests, I also regularly engage in metascience work – research about research – in which I study scientific (mal)practices in my own and related fields, and contribute to initiatives aiming to foster the replicability of, and thereby trust in, our collective research efforts.

Next to doing research, I enjoy teaching young people, reading, history, hiking, music, sarcasm, and most of all riding my bicycle up and down the beautiful mountains surrounding my current home.

Please feel invited to contact me in case you are interested in any of my activities, have a research idea that might be worth exploring together, or simply want to join for a bike ride 🙂
